Amy Barnett

What is the best entry point for people into the Naturopathy lifestyle?

If you have an interest and passion for natural health then looking into Naturopathy courses would be an amazing avenue to expand that interest. A lot of students and Naturopaths that I have spoken to have transitioned into the course naturally as natural and herbal medicine was already an interest. Lifestyle is the perfect way to describe Naturopathy, as the knowledge will stay with you throughout your life and benefit those around you.

What is your favourite meal to wake up to?

I absolutely love a nutrient rich smoothie or protein oats. A favourite smoothie would be 1/2 cup frozen berries, handful baby spinach, 1 Tbsp natural peanut butter, 1 cup almond milk, 1 scoop plant based protein, 1 Tbsp chia seeds.

How do you stay positive, driven and focused?

I try my best to be driven and focused by setting short term goals as well as long term. It is also extremely refreshing to slow down and focus on the present. When life isn’t going your way it can be hard to remain positive, this is when reaching out to friends and family can be beneficial. I do love reading and finding books that create a positive life motivation as well. There is this amazing book called Ikigai, which is based in Japan and talks about finding a purpose in life to both enrich your life and create longevity.

What would your advice be to someone who is in a fitness rut?

That we are all human and this is a place we have all been. When I’m in this situation, which is regularly as I don’t have a regular 9-5 job, I like to hit the reset button and start a 3-5 day health challenge of eating clean and getting back into a fitness regime. This challenge will always last longer than the 3-5 days and is a useful tool to just get back on track.

What is the best travelling experience you’ve ever had?

One of my favourite countries is Japan. My husband and I met there and we both love the snow, culture and cuisine. We have now been back multiple times and these holidays would have to be my favourite experience.

Do you prefer winter or water sports?

That is such a tricky question. I grew up on the beach and discovered a love for the snow in my 20’s. I would have to say I am completely torn. The ocean and the snow both have a special part in my heart.

What is your best quality?

I have always struggled with identifying areas I would say are my best. I guess not taking myself of life too seriously. I am addicted to Dad jokes and my mind is constantly referring to Dad jokes and bad puns.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my relationship with my husband. I know that sounds cheesy, but we are a team and have so many adventures planned for ourselves. I consider myself extremely lucky and proud to have found him.
